Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Overview

The department is under tutelage of Dr. CNS Murthy. He guides a team of highly qualified faculty and technical staff. Most of the faculty members are performing research in their respective areas. At present, the computer science department has a modern computer center with the latest desktop computers and thin client terminals. A salient feature of the computer center is that it has two blade servers. All the terminals/computers are networked together. The department also has networked printing facility and a dedicated leased line to provide internet surfing competence to the staff and students.

Vision of department is to produce “Creators of Innovative Technology” and attain global recognition in Computer Science & Engineering education, research and training to meet the growing needs of the software industry and society.

  • Computer Center Laboratory:

Computers center Laboratory has power of i-3 or core-2 duo high speed processors, with various open Source and licensed software. Lab is interconnected by high speed network with internet facility.

  • OOPS Laboratory:

Lab contains 40 computers with i3 processor. Experiments which are performed in the lab with the help of open-source softwares i.e.:

  • Computer Graphics Laboratory:

To perform the experiments on Graphics applications, lab contains 40 computers with high graphical computing capabilities. Experiments are performed in OpenGL and NCURSES libraries.

To simulate the various networking concepts, lab is having 40 Computers with high speed i3 processors. Experiments are performed through various open-source networking softwares i.e.:

Certification/Workshops

The students and faculties are exposed to in deep knowledge of the subject.
  • Coding Club and CSI jointly organized the IC3-2K15 on 10 October 2015. IC3 (Inter College Coding Competition) is a platform for CSE/IT Engineering students to test their coding skills. The event is meant to identify one of the smartest and sharpest minds in engineering student's community today. It collaborates all the engineering colleges in India, aims to focus on testing the analytical and logical skills of participating students. More than 170+ Teams of Indore Engineering colleges were participated in this event.

  • A workshop on "Introduction to Computer Hardware and Networking" with the collaboration of CSI (Computer Society of India) and Coding Club is organized on 19 Sep 2015 for the first year students of all branches. In this workshop more than 150 students have participated.

  • On the occasion of Engineers Day 15 September 2015, The Coding Club has organized the Puzzle Hunt Competition that was open challenge to all First year and Second year students of all Engineering streams. In which the following students were declared as the winners of "Puzzle Hunt Competition"

  • CDGI Coding Club has organized the "Parallel Computing in Python" hands-on, interactive workshop on 01 August 2015 to provide a pragmatic introduction to Python with Parallel Programming. In this workshop more than 230 CSE/IT students have participated.

  • Firefox localization event was organized on 30th October 2015. The main motive of the localization event was to promote the Firefox browser in their native languages (Hindi, Marathi, etc.) and to create awareness among the students about their privacy on the web. More than 50 students from CS/IT discipline have participated in this event.

  • CSE Department has conducted 6 days training program in CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) with the help of Koenig Solutions Limited, Delhi from 21st July 2014 to 25th July 2014. Students from CSE, IT, EC, EX has attended the training. Total 82 students have participated in the training. After the completion of training a test was conducted, Mr. Shubham Agrawal CSE-V Sem was the highest scorer(96%) in the test. The training is provided by Mr. Manuj Kumar Koenig Solutions Limited Delhi. CCNA Training provides the depth knowledge of Networking to the students. After the CCNA Certification student can get placement in software company as a Network Engineer.

  • A workshop on “Database Management System” was  organized on 21th May-31st Dec 2013 by IIT-Bombay. A total of 30 faculties had been awarded the certificate.
  • A workshop on “Advanced Java Technologies” , Android were organized for students.
  • The department conducts regular Faculty Development Program(FDP) at college level and Faculty Training Program(FTP) at departmental level to enhance their teaching Skills.
  • A workshop on “PHP” was organized for students of II/III/IV year students on 9th Mar  and 11th Mar 2013.
  • The department caters to the needs of final year and third year students. A workshop on “DB2” was conducted for III year students from 23rd Oct – 25th Oct 2013.

  • Divya Agrawal and Laxmi Soumya Josyula, final year students of Computer Science are selected to present their research paper titled as The RFM-based Secure Ubiquitous Framework for Customer Segmentation based on CLV Scoring approach in the IEEE Sponsored International conference on Innovation and Challenges in Cyber Security (ICICCS) to be held during Feb 03-05, 2016 at Amity University, Greater Noida, India.
  • Ms. Kalash Jain, a final year student of Computer Science has been selected to present her research paper titled as “ An Empirical Performance Measures of Benchmarks for Green Cloud Computing” in the National Conference on Advancements in Computer & Information Technology (NCACIT)-16 to be held in D.Y.PATIL COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, Pune, Sponsored by International Journal of Computer Application, New York, USA.
  • KARAN SINGH SENGAR (CS III Year) has participated in PROJECT INNOVATION CONTEST for project titled "Propeller LED Display" held under INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING AND INTERNET TECHNOLOGY at Kallinga University (KIIT) Bhubneshwar and secured FIRST POSITION.
