Tug of war is a sport that pits two teams against each other in a test of strength: teams pull on opposite ends of a rope, with the goal being to bring the rope a certain distance in one direction against the force of the opposing team's pull. "A team above all...Above All a team."

1. This is a team game.
2. All participants should be properly attired.
3. Shirts or jerseys (rugby jerseys are perfect for this event)
4. Shorts (or pants in inclement weather) O
5. Outdoor shoes or training shoes (no flip flops, heels, or spikes/cleats permitted)
6. Never make a loop by wrapping the rope around and to get a better grip.
7. Team should be of same gender and of approximate size.
8. All matches need to be supervised.
9. Teams typically comprised of up to 8 per side.
10. Once the teams have lined up the referee will make the following commands:
a. "Team are you ready" - Teams to confirm
b. "Pick up the rope" - Teams pick up the Rope.
c. "Take the strain" - Teams lean back slightly but do not pull to take up the slack in the rope.
11. "Pull" - Referee may use a whistle to issue this command
12. The referee will signal when one team has won (pulled white marking over
centerline).
13. Sitting on the ground/floor is typically not permitted and is an infringement of the
